Sophomore slump and complicated third album syndrome. I had to lift my expectations for Feliu.
Feliu is Pigmento Music’s third studio album, following The Grid Line and White Night Walks. This third chapter delves deeper into the Mediterranean. The precise boundaries of The Grid Line were already surpassed with the walks of White Night Walks, but it’s with Feliu that we go even further, carried by the waves of the Mediterranean. There’s a hint of homesickness, but also a clear awareness of the journey.
A musical odyssey traversing the Mediterranean realm, where the ocean’s embrace meets the Mediterranean Sea’s helm. Through lands explored, where life’s essence unfolds, a quest for the soul’s language, in stories untold.
A symphony of tongues, a linguistic blend: of Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan extend, with Greek’s ancient cadence, a harmonious choir, unveiling the depths of the soul’s desire.
The debut album The Grid Line took so many years to see the light at the end of the tunnel. it represented all my young years of songwriting and genuine efforts to find my style. it was about the small area where I grew up during the transition from childhood to adulthood.
The second album White Night Walks was like an earthquake. it was produced after a long series of misadventures and ended in glory and confidence. The songs were all about walking away from troubles and finding a way out from the blu to white. Some eps were released just before and after this second album, including a mostly instrumental ep called Antonyms for Confined Places, written and recorded during the covid 19 pandemic.
The third album was planned written and recorded in complete tranquillity. That’s what made Feliu a difficult third album. There were comfort zones to overcome and there was also a need to evolve. Some of the songs from Feliu were written a long time ago as for tradition in my albums but this time I know those were the last songs I shelved for so many years before taking them off the shelf.
